The ENIAC

The ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Interagrator and Computer) is considered to be the world's first eectronic digital computer. It was built to calculate artillery trajectorys for the military during WWII, although it was also used for weather predictions. The ENIAC's capabilities laid the foundation of large portions of our lives today- if you're reading this now, you are face to face with the implications of the begininng of the digital revolution.

Youth Crisis

The Youth Crisis occurred from 1947 to 1950. People were worried that comic books were effecting the youth's thinking. Taking them away from the mainstream. There was also an increase in the crime rate due to comic books. Or as they say, it was affecting the rate.

TikTok

TikTok is a social media platform where users can create, share, and discover short-form videos. It's common amongst everyone but is more popular with the younger generation. TikTok uses this opportunity as a tactic to show more media coverage and to target the youth group as we are easily influenced.

Dystopian Books Influence

In this exhibition, you will explore how the Harry Potter series has significantly influenced youth culture by fostering a strong sense of identity, creativity, and activism among its fans. Through the concept of Hogwarts houses, young readers found ways to express their personalities within real-world communities. Harry Potter also sparked political awareness, fighting against oppression, with some of our real-world social movements carrying the characteristics of the characters in the book, such as their moral philosophy and leadership. We will also dive into the "why". Why do these type of books have such a hold on the youth, what makes them so intriguing. And are these books just for the youth or can they also correlate with adults as well.
